Involved in the production of sugar from two types of crops; sugarcane and sugar beet, we, at Almoiz Industries Limited not only believe in the production of high quality sugar but maintaining and developing long-lasting relationships with all our stakeholders. At Almoiz we have adopted the latest “Diffuser” technology instead of conventional milling. This diffuser can be utilized for the extraction of juice from Sugar Cane as well as Sugar Beet. Our crushing units, post diffuser, are based on the most modern technologies. We are equipped with automated milling tandems with “Mill Max” (cane crushing technology) which is built on innovative French design.

The juice purification and clarification at Almoiz is done according to international procedures and standards. Proper attention is paid in the usage and selection of the best quality process chemicals in the process house. As a policy it is ensured that all the chemicals are food grade and that they conform to international standards to cater to all our clients' needs.

Almoiz is also the pioneer in installing the latest “Falling Film Evaporators”, which are highly efficient as compared to the Conventional “Roberts”. They efficiently transfer the heat from the steam to the juice and reduce the amount of steam required for the process thus decreasing steam consumption and eventually saving bagasse for power generation.

The process of sugar crystallization is done at the pan stations. Pan Automation has also helped Almoiz in achieving the efficiency targets. We pay special attention at the pan boiling station as it determines the type of sugar to be produced. The company produces several grades of sugar and the production range varies between below 45 ICUMSA to below 100 ICUMSA.

For good quality of sugar the performance of the pan station has to be very efficient. That is the reason why we have focused a lot on the Pan Automation. The Pan Automation has improved the operational efficiencies of massecuite boiling. Boiling of strikes consistently with a specific Brix profile for each pan has improved massecuite quality. There is good control in crystal quality and crystal yield. Such procedures are adopted that ensure complete pan boiling monitoring with data record for checking the performance of pan station. At Almoiz Industries Limited the Pan Automation was carried out by renowned German experts and is running successfully.

We have installed the latest Vacuum and Condensing systems. The state-of-the-art Refine Centrifugal machines are imported from Sweden, Japan and China. The sugar hoppers, dryers, graders and elevators are designed with such materials to prevent any contamination due to the presence of the ferrous material. High intensity magnets are also installed to catch the ferrous material. The state of the art sugar packing enables to ensure smooth and consistent filling, stitching and conveying of packed sugar in the sugar warehouses.

For consistency in quality and efficient operations, the plant is monitored and controlled by Distribution Control Systems (DCS). Most of the variables of the plant are managed and controlled from the Central Control Room (CCR). Automation has been introduced in almost all the areas of the plant.

In addition to sugarcane preparation technologies, Almoiz has also installed a separate line for the preparation of the Sugar Beet. This line is based upon state of the art technology and includes latest equipment such as the Drum Washer, Stone Catcher, Weed Catchers, Jet Washer and the Slicers.

Almoiz focuses on energy efficiency, environmental protection and power export for the betterment of the people in its vicinity. Almoiz uses bagasse for energy production which is cost effective and more efficient as compared to using furnace oil.

Almoiz Industries Limited produces the superheated steam from 02 Nos. 80 t/hr, 65 bar (high pressure) boilers. These boilers are highly efficient as compared to the conventional 23 bar boilers. The boilers are based on the latest design of Eckrohrkessel GmbH.

Due to the state of the art technology and highly efficient boilers, turbines and generators, Almoiz has the capability to generate surplus electricity that is available for the export to the national grid during the sugarcane, sugar beet and the off-crop seasons.

Agricultural R&D is an integral part of our policy which not only entails identification and multiplication of new crop varieties but is also used for exploring new avenues such as irrigation, efficient systems, organic fertilizer, testing of new herbicides and pesticides, adoption of agriculture implements to improve farm productivity and the use of filter cake as alternative source of providing essential nutrients and organic matter for general improvement in soil fertility.

A farm facility is being utilized for the introduction of upcoming and promising sugarcane and sugar beet varieties. Such varieties are usually brought from the Research Institutes and our overseas technology partners and tested for their adaptability in the agro climatic conditions of the area. After confirmation of the yield and sugar recovery potential, these varieties are multiplied for the provision of seed to the farmers, thus continuing the process of replacing the old varieties with newer and better varieties.

After juice has been extracted from sugar beet root, the pulp that remains is called Beet Pulp, which is used for animal diet all over the world. The consumption of beet pulp makes animals healthier, especially milking animals as beet pulp increases their milking yield. The beet pulp can be preserved to make silage. If silage is stocked in an ideal manner it can be preserved for a whole year, especially when other alternate fodders are not available. It can also be mixed with wheat, barley and alpha or with any other concentrate.

Nutritional Importance of Beet Pulp

Beet pulp has a high percentage of natural fibers. In addition, it contains protein,minerals and glucose. Because of sufficient quantity of digestible natural fibers it is full of energy. It is comparatively the cheapest source of animal feed available to the dairy farms in Pakistan.

How to Preserve and Protect Beet Pulp

To preserve beet pulp safely it is necessary to have bunkers for beet pulp storage. Before filling, the bunker floor should be covered with the plastic sheet. After filling the bunker with beet pulp cover it with plastic sheets to ensure the pulp is airtight. This will help preserve and protect the beet pulp.
